Help keep the conversation worth having.
Our groups work because real neighbors review every post. Moderators are volunteers who care about Lee's Summit, can stay fair when they disagree, and can give a few hours a week. If that's you, we'd like to hear from you.
What moderators do
Review the queue
Approve posts and comments that follow the rules, decline the ones that don't, and keep the wait short for members.
Apply the rules as written
The rules are public. Moderators enforce them consistently, the same way for everyone, no matter who is posting.
Stay neutral
If a post follows the rules, it gets approved, even when you personally disagree with it. Moderators don't pick sides, and never use the role to promote a candidate, a business, or an agenda.
Escalate, don't argue
Harassment, threats, and gray areas go to the admin. Moderators don't debate members in the comments as moderators.
A note about the Politics group
Lee's Summit Community Politics is for local, county, and state politics only. Moderating it means approving well-argued posts from every side of every local issue. If you can't approve a rule-following post you disagree with, this isn't the group to moderate, and that's okay.
